Is your data exposed?
Before the digital era, we stored essential or sensitive documents in secret cabinets, safes, under mattresses, and banks. It sounds funny, but older people even buried these in their backyards. But now that it's electronic do we leave it for others to protect?

The recent hacking of Optus and the ease with which the hackers stole the data should make us all aware that we live in a cyber world. We do a lot more online subconsciously than we realize; as a matter of fact, we don’t even think about it. It’s the modern norm.

We do it for personal reasons, and we do it for business.

Yes, the telcos should be more secure, but also we owe it to ourselves to protect our data and documents from being lost or stolen.

Remember how you stored essential documents or money in days gone?

We had secret cabinets, safes, under mattresses, and banks. It sounds funny, but older people even buried these in their backyards. But now that it’s electronic do we leave it for others to protect?

How important are the essential and sensitive documents and data to your business? And that they are secure but easily accessible when you need them?

Listening to the news about Optus, I heard an expert say that “Australia should follow the European lead and set up something like GDPR.”

The good news is that DocuWare is already GDPR and SOC2 certified, ensuring all your data is secure, easily accessible, maintenance-free, and managed by MS Azure.

GDPR, or General Data Protection Regulation, is a set of European rules and standards related to privacy and data governance. It is for European companies and companies doing business in Europe or with European customers; however, it is for any company. The regulation requires the active consent of customers and gives them new portability powers to control the transfer of their information — and sets up significant penalties for non-compliance.

There is no single technology that meets all GDPR requirements. An organization must adopt a holistic information management strategy. Document management and workflow automation play critical roles.

DocuWare offers document management and a workflow automation system that helps you comply with your document-based processes. Using DocuWare, your company gains the ability to:

  • Locate and access personal data stored in and processed with your documents
  • Export, correct and delete personal data (for example, deleting data helps comply with the new “right to be forgotten” article)
  • Ensure that personal data is protected and not processed further
